We offer lots of opportunities if you’re looking to build a career in art, graphic design or other visually creative fields.

A starting point would be to join a magazine as a designer, later progressing to deputy art editor and then to art editor. You’ll design and lay out progressively more of the magazine as you move up the ranks, taking on greater responsibility for budgets, commissioning illustrators and photographers and directing photoshoots – as well as planning the all-important cover each month.

We look for people ideally with experience in a professional design practice, preferably a national newsstand magazine. It’s essential that you have a qualification in Graphic Design, such as a degree, HND or BTEC, and a good understanding of typography and the print process.

The Art Studio, our in-house team of designers, is a great place to start if you enjoy variety and want to develop your design skills quickly across a wide range of titles before moving on to a magazine in a dedicated design role.
